I've been looking for AA rechargeables, and thought I'd pass on news about some interesting new stuff.
Thomas Distributing now has 1800 mAH AA NiMH batteries from Nexcell, $14.97 for four, #NC-4AA1800. There's an Alltek AC charger that is a smart fast charger with memory refresh and discharge conditioning, including a 12-V car plug. Reportedly takes a bit over 2 hours to recharge 4 AAs, and no heat-death, using a microprocessor, battery level reading, and pulse charging: #AT-1268 is $24.97. Radio Shack has a 4 AA charger that is also an AC adapter, with selectable output voltage, and it can also be used as a battery pack, running a portable off of the NiMH or NiCADs it charged when it was plugged in! #273-1900 for $39.99.
