The Black Dragon Headphone Version 2 headphone replacement cable is Moon Audio's Premiere hard wiring cable. The original Black Dragon V2 headphone cable can be hard-wired to just about any headphone such as Grado, AKG, Audio-Technica, etc.
The Black Dragon V2 cable uses 4 x 21.5AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors using pure single crystallized UP-OCC pure copper with 7N purity 99.99998%.
Description
Each conductor is made up of a special varying size stranding geometry. The copper stranding is mixed with Kevlar stranding to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing a headphone cable receives.
The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and then a layer of Teflon tape.
The new version is now also shielded and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.
For the Sennheiser version the pin connectors are soldered directly to the conductors of the cable. The splicing method used by other cable companies using a stock Sennheiser cable's connectors is a poor method. And defeats the purpose of replacing the cable. That method requires you to once more send the signal through the poor quality conductors in the stock Sennheiser cable as well as through one more solder joint. Moon Audio, Cardas and Zu are the only three cable companies I am aware of that use a preferred method of headphone connection method
The wire is soldered to the connector with Cardas silver solder. The default 1/4" Plug is the Furutech FP-704(G). The default 1/8" plug is a Neutrik NYS231B. And the default XLR is the Black Neutrik NC3. The wire is then covered in 2 layers of Techflex braid.
The cable is extremely smooth sounding with great low end and wonderful voicing. And will remove the veil all Sennheiser headphones just like the Silver Dragon. Most stock headphone cables are made of poor ultra thin conductors that work as a bottle neck for the sound.
If you listen to any type of music then this is the cable will suit your needs. It is a little more rounded than the Blue Dragon. Fuller Sound and more bottom end weight..

The Blue Dragon V3 Headphone Cable has been designed to match the Silver Dragon V3 Headphone cable but with a high purity copper conductor using the Ohno Continuous Casting Process. The Blue Dragon V3 Headphone Cable has the same geometry structure as the Silver Dragon V3 Headphone Cable only it uses UP-OCC pure copper.
The Blue Dragon V3 is a neutral, very natural sounding headphone cable which is great for vocal performances.
The Blue Dragon V3 is a good fit if you do not want to add coloration but want to improve clarity and dynamics in your headphones. In addition, if you do not want to tip the headphone forward or back then the Blue Dragon is a wonderful choice and is also the "best bang for the buck cable" on the market today.
The Sennheiser HD600 has been one of the best phones for classical music because of the smoother warm sound. The HD600 is not as dark and laid back as the HD650 and so the neutrality of the Blue Dragon is the better fit for the HD600 signature. It is a great cable for a wide variety of music genres. If you are using a very warm tube amp and a forward headphone, the Blue Dragon is a good choice to keep the sound signature the same. The Blue Dragon V3 is also the most flexible of the full size headphone cables and makes a good choice for headphones that use a single entry connection point like the AKG K702 and many of the Ultrasone headphones.

The Moon Audio Silver Dragon V3 Headphone Cable is Moon Audio's Top of the Line Headphone Cable. The Silver Dragon V3 is a silver conductor based cable and it uses 4 x 99.99998% UP-OCC Stranded Silver 24AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors.
The Silver Dragon V3 can improve the listening enjoyment of most high end headphones and it has lots of detail, great energy, a fantastic soundstage with lots of air.
The SD V3 is a great candidate for headphones such as Sennheiser HD650 (a darker/warmer sounding can) or such headphones as the Hifiman HE-500, HE-6 and the Audeze LCD-2 and LCD3, which are planar magnetic driver headphones and warmer sounding headphones.
The Moon Audio Silver Dragon V3 is not a good choice for a thin sounding headphone like the AKG K701. Nor is it a good choice for a forward sounding Grado RS-1, which is very much like a studio monitor or an up close and personal headphone sound. However, there are still folks out there that are detail freaks and want to push or tip things more forward so we have actually recabled these 2 examples with the Moon Audio Silver Dragon. As Drew explains, it just depends on what you are trying to do.
The Moon Audio Silver Dragon is also a good choice for a phone that has bloated bottom end like the Ultrasone Pro900. The SD will tighten the bass and make it more defined.
Description
The previous version used 4 x 99.998% Ultra Pure Silver 24AWG Teflon insulated stranded conductors. Thus we have stepped up the purity to the purist available by today's technology.
We have improved the conductors properties over the previous Version 2 cable as these conductors are free from impurities and have virtually no crystal boundaries. The conductors have almost no distortion compared to ordinary silver conductors.
Each conductor is made up of a special varying sized stranded geometry. The silver stranding's are mixed with Kevlar standing's to reinforce the conductor. Making it stronger overall and less prone to failure due to the harsh constant flexing that headphone cable experience.
Each conductor is encapsulated in a Teflon casing.
The conductors are then surrounded by cotton and a thin layer of Aluminum Foil.
It is then protected by a 100% coverage silver plated copper secondary shield and placed in a polyethylene jacket for further protection.
To improve it's flexibility we are no longer using a Techflex jacketing as we did with our previous versions.
A variety of connection options are available for your downstream connection. Such as the mini plug, RCA, XLR and a whole host of others. We custom build these in house to your connection specification.
The cable can be used in either a single ended or balanced design. The wire is soldered to a connectors using high quality Cardas silver solder.
