I've read this forum for a while for recommendations and reviews, and now I'm joining the forum to get myself a new pair of headphones.

Well. It would help to know what these headphones need to do..
 
1. Open, closed, or either? (Open is bad for noise isolation for both you and others, closed is better)
2. What kind of music do you listen to?
3. Do you like a lot of bass, or do you like a very neutral sound?
4. Budget?
5. What will you be running it out of?
6. Location?

1. Either, doesn't really matter, sound cancelling would be nice but not necessary. Preference would go to portable ones
2. All kinds, classical, rock, electro, jazz.
3. For headphones I like a little bass, but I don't want to be wearing subwoofers on my head. Leaning more towards neutral sound
4. ~300 USD or less. Used or new is fine.
5. I have a very old pair of sony mdr's(over 10 years old), I don't have it with me right now so i'm not sure what exact model it was
6. Midwest USA

Some of the easiest headphones to recommend around 300 dollars with a bit of bass are

Sennheiser momentum

NAD viso hp50

Focal spirit one

Akg tiesto k267

And possibly sony mdr 1r line if you want noise cancelling etc.

Are you open to in ear earphones or strictly headphones?

I'm looking for strictly headphones. I always seem to not be able to listen to in ear earphones for too long without it hurting my ears.

if you want comfort i would put the sony mdr1r line on the top of your list. But the ones suggested are all relatively comfortable
