Thanks for the feedback. The same feedback was given by all who listened at the California Audio Show this past wknd. One of the Best Bang for the buck set ups in Headphone Audio. The Tube amp is even better. At CES when i heard the Prototypes I was favoring the SS setup. But the final production version of the Tube Amp M-20 is amazing. And the tubes are common so tube rolling will be next on my list:)

Drew, a bit more feedback. I am listening to one of my favorite recordings of all time "the Traveling Wilburys - Volume 1 and 3. I listened to the music first with the LCD-3, then the HE-500 and finally switched to the Kingsound set up. Now, I am officially committing blasphemy when I say (or write this) but the Kingsound blew the LCD-3 and the HE-500 right out of the water. Clarity, detail, bass depth and extension - no contest. The first two sounded more congested. I need to listen to more recordings before I make a definitive generalization but I thought I would let you know. I am using the same DAC for all three HPs so the amp for the first two set ups (LCD 3 and HE 500) may be a contributor. Not sure yet but loving the Kingsounds.

$650.00 KingSound KS-H2 Electrostatic Headphones

KingSound has introduced the KS-H2 Electrostatic Headphones with improved headband and cups from the KS-H1. All other attributes of the KS-H2 remain the same including the drivers and sound quality.

For a total improvement of the KS-H1 try the NEW KS-H3 Electrostatic Headphones with new improved headband, new improved drivers, and a new sound.

The KS-H2 headphones are the second electrostatic headphones created by KingSound. Moon Audio has included a description of the technology behind Electrostatic headphones and loudspeakers below.

How do Electrostatic headphones and speakers work?

The electrostatic loudspeaker is very simple in concept, but difficult to construct successfully in practice. The operation relies on electrostatic attraction and repulsion, in much the same way as a piece of thin paper attracted to a rubber balloon that is charged by rubbing it against fabric.

The electrically charged ultra-thin conductive film diaphragm is tensioned and placed close between two metal grids. When a high voltage audio signal is applied to the metal grids, the diaphragm moves in response to the signal, moving towards the grid which at that instant is oppositely charged, and away from the grid which has the same charge as the diaphragm. The diaphragm responds in an essentially linear manner, producing sound waves which are a very accurate reproduction of the original sound.

Why is it better?

Imagine a normal speaker as a point source, from which the sound waves produced diffract at a great angle. This causes rapid decrease in volume and quality over a short distance.

Then imagine a flat electrostatic panel producing sound from the same input signal. This time the sound waves are produced over a large, flat area, therefore they have very little diffraction and the volume decreases much less over the same distance.

Specifications

Frequency Response10Hz - 46kHz

Impedence113kΩ (at 10kHz)
Sensitivity109 dB (at 100vrms)
Maximum Output Sound Level 116dB

Thank You.

Is the KS-H3 headphone compatible with the Stax SRM 2525 driver amp? (i.e does the plug fit?)

I know this is an old post and I'm not an expert in this hobby I can only share what I experienced. I owned a Stax SRM-006t and a pair of 507's. I purchased the H-03 and the M-10 and sold my Stax setup. First I didn't like them but after they broke in the KingSound floored me and sound better than the Stax to my ears. I too would like to try another amp and am considering the SRM-727. The funny thing is the M-10 sound Great but my mind just won't accept that it could cost so little and sound this good.:D
