To me it feels like same as the original SlimX except for diffrent remote and the looks.

I thought iRiver was working on supporting Ogg Vorbis.

Maybe that will be a firmware upgrade.

I'd challenge even the most golden-eared to here a 20% increase in power output.

no mention of the hissss part so i believe it's still there and/or they don't want to mention it. or they just don't have the phones to percieve it.

Human hearing is logrithmic so a 20% increase in power will not be perceived to be 20% louder to the human ear. In fact for the human ear to perceive something to be twice as loud you need 10X the power. Thus a 20% increase in power output is almost nothing as you suggest. I agree, I doubt anyone could hear the difference.
