Here's a link to an article describing likely features of the new iPhone 7. Among the features discussed are the elimination of the 3.5mm headphone jack to make the device thinner. The lightning port will be used for audio for headphones, with the possible inclusion of a lightning to 3.5mm adapter. Third party headphone manufacturers would use the technology in their own headphones and would have to license it from Apple, and Apple would likely include it in their own headphones such as Beats.

Also expected is new noise cancellation software from Wolfson to remove background noise for both audio and phone calls.

Other features include wireless charging and a waterproof case.
