First off, hello everyone. I’ve been reading for a while and just joined today. I have a specific question and thought it a good time to officially join the community.

I currently am using a pair of Grado SR80X and I love them! I can afford to buy a pair of SR125X and keep the 80’s as a backup. I won’t have enough to go any higher than the 125’s.

Is it worth buying the 125’s? I’ve read much to prove the case to do so, but just as much not to do it. A little confusing.

Any suggestions from the experts?

The 225 series is more of an upgrade you'll notice if you find a good pair on eBay. I don't think you'll think it's worth the cost for the 125.

It really depends on the price difference and what you can afford. I do think the SR125 is a significant upgrade over the 80, but from SR125 to SR225 is another big step up. Look for a used pair on Ebay or here; it doesn't have to be the absolutely latest SR225 (i or e or x) to be good.
