Isn't it illegal to operate a motor vehicle while wearing headphones as you need to be able to hear sirens of emergency vehicles, seems a little dangerous.

Illegal? No offence but is it that serious in your country? I never heard about it anywhere in the world about wearing headphones while driving/motorcycling being illegal, just that it's understandably advised not to do that because like you said, it's dangerous.

It depends on the state you're in http://drivinglaws.aaa.com/laws/headsets/

On my way home yesterday I was stuck in stop and go traffic with my headphones in and while stopped I saw the ambulance behind me before I heard it but I did hear it.

I have also been in my van with the music cranked up so loud (great song) that I didn't even notice an emergency vehicle  until the cars around me started pulling off the road. There are no laws for how loud you can turn your stereo up in you own car.

While at speed, the wind noise alone is so deafening that you would never hear an emergency vehicle before you see it. As one poster has already said in this thread, when riding a bike, you have to be more visually alert over being audibly alert as helmet and wind noise alone impair your hearing and not wearing some type of hearing protection would lead to hearing loss.

Just wanted to post an update after using my PFEs for a while. Used the original green (Bass) filters for about a week then switched to the grey, Noticeable difference and I find myself listening to songs I've listened to for years and asking myself "is this a new song?" because I'm hearing so much more!

The sound is exceptionally clean and when amped, these babies rock! The Fiio E11 is an amazing addition to these EIMs and I can't believe I have been listening without an amp for so long.

The PFEs disappear when you wear them and you forget they're even there. With my Shure's, I was ready to take them out after an hour of listening.

Great product for the money and I'm very satisfied. I want to thank everyone for their help in guiding me in the right direction. I plan to try some different options going forward so I'll be back for more research when ready.

Thanks everyone!
