I am looking for new headphones and i hope to get a sound upgrade from my old DT 880 Edition.
For me the quality of the DT 880 was really amazing and i want the same quality for my new headphones.
I liked the natural sound of vocals and bass,i would call it analytical sound.
My future headphones should go in the same direction.
I want to use them at home and for the main propose to listening all kinds of music, watching movies and playing games on the pc.
I use the Audiointerface Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 and will probably change soon to a Shiit Asgard 2.
My budget is about 400-500$ and i would prefer closed heaphones like the DT 770 Pro.
The maximum focus of the new headphones should lay on the spatial sound, for gaming purposes.

In the past i tried the T70, T90 and DT 1770 from Beyerdynamic but i couldn't figure out the reason for the huge price difference compared to the DT 880 Edition.
When i pay a price like 500$ i want to get a big sound improvement compared to my currently DT 880's.

I hope you can give me a few suggestions.

best regards Whitcomb

If you don’t mind used for that price you can get the HE-500’s a awesome headphone and the Asgard should have plenty of power for them.

The HE-500 and DT880 sound nothing alike to my ears...the HE500 blows the Beyer out of the water, but OP wants a similar to Beyer sound, and closed back,so HE500 is off the table.

Im not really sure as to why OP wants closed back though since he mentions at home use.If youre negotiable on that front you can probably find a Beyer T1.1 used for near your budgetl.

Sry for the confusion and thanks for ur suggestions.
1. The new headphones don't have to sound like the DT 880, i just liked the analytic sound.
2. Closed is negotiable, it would be nice but they don't have to be closed.

Sennheiser HD700/800
AKG K6xx/7xx/812

Are all pretty analytic headphones.
None are closed back.

I did hear you mention you wanted a spacious sound, which I take as soundstage? And if your looking for that a closed set is not the way to go. Imo, check out the hifiman he560, they’re on sale right now for 480-550$ depending where you buy them and are quite neutral headphones that are rlly nice. Monsters recommendations above are great too. Any of the hd series sennheisers would probably cover the sound signature you want aswell, but I don’t think the HD600 or 650 would rlly be an upgrade, more maybe just a side step to something a bit different.

K702 sounds bigger and more layered than DT880, not as sparkly.
K712 is similar to K702 but warmer and more focused (improved imaging)
HD700 is also clearer than DT880 and has way better soudstage and imaging capabilities.
I like DT880's treble over HD700's, although both are similarly present and clearly on the analytical side.

If you happen to like their type of sound, the AKGs K702/K712 offer plenty for the money.
HD700 is certainly pricier, although you get a nice case and an overall fancier headphone (extremely comfortable in my experience)
