It's time for the Winter Audio Hobbyist fest back at our customary location at Franks shop

Just over the railroad tracks.
Feel Free to spread the word.

As usual, need to be careful about parking - we don't want to use the lot across the street but we can park in front (as usual) and there is a lot around back on Parker Street.

We'll start around 11AM and go until around 5-6 PM.

These events run smoothly with people taking responsibility for bringing edible contributions by way of  food, snacks, beverages
( Alcoholic or NON if preferred) .  -  If you brew your own Beer or Wine  or can chef up a mean Smoothie,  That works too .

There will be  Audio Gear and Media swap / sell / freebie tables as usual and people can bring their favorite toys and systems to set up for demo or display.
No charges or fees for anyone to buy, sell, or display - we do it for the love.

.

As usual, we're not sure at this time how much space in Franks Shop will be available to us - More info will follow as we get closer.

Also keep in mind that we'll need to make an extra effort to clean up after ourselves since Frank doesn't have the physical stamina like he used to.

And don't forget to take your unsold/ or unclaimed FREEBIE treasure(s) home with you.   loading up Frank's dumpster is NOT AN OPTION.

Please spread the word to anyone and everyone in the New England area to attend - While the core folks who attend are members of the AK forum community,  ( also the location of the official thread)   Invites are extended to all of our fellow hobbyist from other forums and communities  as well.

All that is required is an obsessive interest in all things audio - that's our common bond.

**Note to our friends at HEAD-FI.org (where this particular invite is being listed) ,  while the Frankenfest events are not specifically HEADPHONE related,  there are members among the group who also have interest in Personal Audio systems - This particular social tends to be more conventional "hi-fi" related ( of any and all kind,  no secret handshakes or  pretentious snobbery amongst this bunch of audio yahoos, we appreciate if you share the same mindset)

Also,  If you plan to bringing gear or media to swap or sell, keep it within reason.  Loading up the car from floor to roof with the intent offloading your stash of gear at Market value is probably NOT a good idea.   -  An opportunity for a full blown "bargain hunter" BUYER / SELLER type event happens in the Spring at the MIT SWAPFEST  in Cambridge MA ( details will be posted before it starts in MAY) .

if you made it this past weekend,  GREAT!  the venue was packed wall to wall. lots of great conversation, good food and plenty of beer. not to mention, lot of records, tons of trading, and great gear for fair prices , there were even some headphones and headphone amps in the mix.

People often complain about a lack of social activities within the audio hobby , so low key events like this is a great opportunity to link up with other audio folks , trade, listen, buy, sell and most importantly Socialize and share the hobby of music via recorded media and the gear that is vital to its playback.  -   The next social is already being planned.  a post will go up here when the date is set ( sometime this summer most likely a date in June)  ...  There may be other smaller meet ups and listening sessions in between.

" Workshops, MAKER  / DIY Audio " socials are also being discussed , from basic soldering ( maybe you're re-wiring your grados or re-capping an old set of Allison sixes)  to Speaker re-foaming, Cable making etc.   if there is any serious interest in those types of gatherings feel free to drop me a PM with your info and I'll add you to the list.

combining events isn't a bad idea either , with enough support several of the audio related groups can pool resources to host a bigger event.  SUPPORT being the key word. it can't happen if folks aren't interested.  it's fair to note that these gathering are laid back  NO PRETENTIOUS SNOBBERY or elitist B.S all that is required is a love for music and gear.  Attitudes get checked at the door and it's a good time for everyone.  I haven't been to one of these things where it was anything but a frickin Blast!

Thanks to any who attended this weekend .   don't forget that MIT SWAP-FEST is starting up again in APRIL in Cambridge MA.  I'll post a separate listing for those events.    ( NOTE: I am not affiliated with any organization or groups who are hosting these events, I'm merely a hobbyist who enjoys community building , so I like to spread the word.  maybe you do too. so pass the word to your audio friends.. it's absolutely open to everyone who enjoys this stuff.)
