Hi All,
Well, here are a few recently re-done power supply pcb designs for the Gilmore dynamic amp based on Kevin Gilmore's schematic.
*Please note*
Antness will be offering professionally made power supply pcb's for the Gilmore amp in the near future so if you are not sure of the financial/technical efficacy of making your own pcbs, please contact Antness for more info. on his board. They will be pretty inexpensive and professionally made so this should be the first option for most people.
For the rest of us die-hard DIY'ers, I am putting up 3 basic designs in both .gif and Photoshop .psd formats. Please be aware that you can change/modify these designs very easily in Photoshop or Paintshop Pro to suit your personal taste and/or component choices.
The first design is made to fit on an 8" x 3.8" copper board. There are three variations here; one is made to fit the Talema 70075 transformer on the surface of the pcb. This should fit inside most smaller case enclosures.
The second design is basically the same as the first except that the transformer AC input leads/pins have been left out. You should use Photoshop to layout the correct AC leads/pins for your particular pcb surface mount transformer.
The third design is a shortened board--essentially the same as version #2 with the transformer section cut off (about 3"). This leaves you with a board that measure 5" x 3.8". This design may let you fit a larger toroidal transformer directly to the case bottom, if needed. You will need a transformer with flying leads to use this.
Finally, the last design is made to fit on a standard Radio Shack 4.5" x 6.25" copper board. This is a newly laid out version of a design that I had posted on an earlier thread at Head-fi.
The primary advantage of the 4.5" x 6.25" board is that you can use very large electrolytic capacitors (up to 10,000 uF) and larger heatsinks.
Again, please feel free to modify and make changes to any of these basic designs.
Gilmore PSU 8.0" x 3.8" Boards
Please print out all the below designs at 8.0" x 3.8" at 300 dpi.
As Antness has pointed out, the copper boards should be cut to a 3.938" width in order to fit inside the 4.06" wide 1455 Series Hammond enclosures. If you cut the board to the minimum allowable 3.8" width, the board will be too narrow to slide flush into the case grooves. You will most likely then have to use stand offs to support the board.

Again, the main difference between the 8.0" x 3.8" boards and the 6.25" x 4.5" boards is that you can use larger capacitors with the 6.25" x 4.5" design and you can mount larger heatsinks.
Please remember that since these are not pre-made boards, you can choose the size of the copper board on which you etch the artwork. The measurements for the designs above are minimum dimensions only. There is no limit on how large a board you can use as long as it is larger than the minimum dimensions of the design.
The power supply artwork, however, must be printed out and etched onto the copper board at the indicated dimensions(eg. 8" x 3.8", 6.25" x 4.5" etc.).
