I saw this on the good ol'e net, and thought you guys would get a chuckle out of this old Sears catalog advertisement.

I wonder what happened when you played a disk with more than 16 tracks?

I wish people still cared that much about music reproduction. Can you imagine the average iPod owner even knowing what WOW and FLUTTER are?

Yeah, I noticed that the advertisement focused a lot on sound reproduction. My, how the world has changed.

This may be older. Magnavox FD 1000. 1984?

I'll have to see how it sounds.

Wonder if it's worth anything?

LOL, I'm pretty sure vinyl afficianado's of the day looked at CD's the same way we look at MP3's. Well, I'm sure most of them still look at CD's the same way.

Music industry seems to be going downhill rather than up.
Convenience at the cost of overall quality.
Wish we could have both.

That made me go all nostalgic...it must have been a pretty exciting time. Whatever the flaws of CD-audio, it sure was a huge improvement for the average consumer. Thanks for posting it!
