New Custom-to-Universal IEMs: InEar StageDiver 2/3

Jun 25, 2015 at 8:04 PM Post #1,277 of 1,401
Looking to grab a pair of headphones, and it seems it is between these or the Noble 4. From what I've read they have similar sound signatures. Can anyone with both verify or comment on this? Thanks!

You're talking bout sd2? Or sd3?

SD2 is balanced. Noble 4 is brightish neutral.

SD3 is very bassy yet kind of clear at the same time. Great for edm.

Sorry I've now specified the SD-2. Realistically isn't balanced and neutral pretty much the same thing? I listen to a lot of jazz so being a little bright (high-mid leaning) is preferred to me.

I owned both once upon a time.. from memory, soundwise the noble 4 is better, has better extension and highs..but I sold it due to fit issues..on the other hand the sd2 is the best fitting universal I ever tried but you really need a good silver cable to get the best out of it... But I kinda got bored of the sd2 sound after a few months and sold it..sd2 is a very non fatiguing iem but each ear hears things differently I guess..

My vote would go to the Noble 4

Wow, even considering the fit issues you would suggest the noble 4? Surprising. So I've had some fit issues with my right ear in the past, but short of getting a pair of customs I don't think that is going to end. Both sets seemingly present potential fit issues from what I've read so far. My concern with the noble is that the stem is too short and that it has a bulkier form factor. The biggest IEM i've used are probably the vsonic gr07be or the vsd3s. Theres also always the almost universally comfortable w40 for 370...haha. But i think I've already ruled it out.

My vote would go to noble 4 too.

SD2 stock is just that little bit more V shaped. And you'd have to buy a cable to make it sound perfect noble 4 is there right at the start.

Comfort wise depends on your ear size. SD2 is quite a bit bigger than N4. There is a smaller version called SD2 BUT I'm not sure how much smaller they are.

Well I don't think I have small ears, but I would likely buy the SD-2S just to be safe, as it is unlikely they are too small, if thats a thing even. It looks like I'll just have to suck it up and decide haha, but I am leaning noble.  The noble is however about 60 dollars more expensive right now and looks like they charge a hefty restocking fee if i do choose to return them, which is  something to consider as well. Thanks for the input!

I just found the nozzle or stem of the iem to be a bit short which in turn meant I had a hard time maintaining a seal..it may not be an issue for you at all but you have also mentioned this in your post above... Prob best to try demo if at all possible or maybe you can return them within 7 days of purchase but you will have to pay a restocking fee probably..

Yeah I just mentioned the restocking fee in the post above as well. Timing seems to be off with multiple posters responding :P. Not sure how to get a demo, short of asking them for one hahaha.

You could also look at in the way that the N4s are more resolving

Thanks! Still haven't really decided, but I will by the beginning of next week. Despite the fact that there are US retailers for the sd-2s, its somehow still much cheaper to get it from thomann and pay the international shipping. I've bought stuff internationally before and haven't had any customs charges, so if this follows suit, the sd-2s would be 388ish shipped from thomann UK.

Yup for sure Thomann are a great company to deal with..and you can return if there is any fit issue..they have ''B'' stock listed too sometimes if you wanna keep an eye out and save a few quid extra but they come with warranty as new I think...

Oh, yeah Ill definitely keep my eye out for that. Yeah their return policy looks pretty good, happy to hear that they take it back without an issue if there was fit issue, and a three year warranty.
