Hey guys, Long time lurker here at Head-fi. I'm having a dilemma at the moment, I'm in the process of upgrading my cheap 5 dollar speakers that I bought 10 years ago. I stuck between 3 choices, although I haven't researched that many computer speakers to begin with.

1st choice : Bose Companion 2 Series 3: Now I know the Head-Fi community is against Beats and Bose, but I've heard some good things about these sub 100 dollar speakers.

2nd Choice: Creative Gigaworks T-20

3rd choice Creative Gigaworks T-40.

Keep in mind I'm using these speakers for all kind of music, mostly pop, hip hop, soul, rock, gaming and for movies. I'd like to stay around 100 dollars but I wouldnt mind going a bit higher to get the T-40 at 129.99. All input is welcome and I thank you.

Are you limited to a certain size?

2.1 = 2 towers, 1 sub.
2.0 = 2 towers

Right, anyway. Check http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/reviews/B001LDMH4C/ they have other similar models, 508 and 510. They're really just the same and have different designs, I've had any issues with them, and they sound superb for $70.

I've had others in the price range, and they just look, sound, and are made better.

You won't find a lot of options in this price range, and you can't really be picky, so maybe just browse your local bestbuy.

as of right now I have my eye on the pro media 2.1 how do these compare?

I honestly prefer the pro media, the tower quality and the mids are decently better, but the highs and the lows and what shows the price difference. Sub has a better range and the tweeters in the towers are just clearer.

Like I said, at this price range, there really aren't a whole lot of 2.1 systems and the klipsch serms to stand out. If you get it for a good deal, you won't be dissappointed at all.

I can get it right now for about 110 brand spanking new, should I go for it? I'm too busy with schoolwork to go out to my local bestbuy and listen to what they have but I'm in need to upgrade my 10 year old speakers as I'm hearing cackling.

I haven't been on here in while and happen to run across your post. I have been in this dilemma for a bit myself now. I am waiting till I move to grab some new speakers. My beloved Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 just died on me after getting several years of use. I would totally reccomend this setup for anyone that wants a system in a box sorta deal. But after a lot of research I am interested in getting a seperate bookshelf style speaker setup and going with an external amp. FiiO makes a great little T-amp that I'll probably go with. I may or may not go with a subwoofer after I hear how this setup sounds. Overall though from everything I researched, it should sound pretty much amazing.

Check it out, and let me know what you think. I am curious what you end up doing :)
