I received the screen and volume knob for my Burson Play v1.6 Giveaway this week. So, I officially announced the Giveaway and the full details to sign up on my website.
You can find the details here: https://hallmanlabs.com/2018/08/01/announcing-the-hallman-labs-burson-play-v1-6-dac-amp-giveaway-last-day-for-entries-is-aug-31st-winner-drawing-on-september-1st/
The last day for entries is August 31, 2018 and the winner will be drawn on September 1, 2018. International entries (outside of the USA) will have to complete a 2nd step after following the website. In order to offer the giveaway to an international audience I am asking for those readers/shoppers to agree to pay half of the shipping cost. This is so I can ship worldwide at roughly the same price as the cost for shipping inside the USA.
Thanks to everyone for your interest and good luck to all of those who enter!
(The Play v1.6 Giveaway is in celebration of launching the Hallman Labs Vintage Store, more on that here: https://hallmanlabs.com/vintage-parts-store/ I have many more parts to put up for sell, but EBay limits you to 100 active items. However, you can find all of the available parts near the bottom of the page which I just linked to! Thanks for looking!)

Can you test OPA1622 too? I'm very curious about your results.Sorry, I only tested OPA1602 and it wasn't better than AD8599. I will purchase OPA1612 within few months and give it a test, thank you.

Ok. Np.No, sorry.
Hmmm... I wrote few pages ago that I wasn't able to play DSD files in native mode on the Play without selecting DoP mode.
Had some more time and made some new tests, after I upgraded JRiver to v24 and 64 bits from v21 32 bits.
Well it seems that both Play and Conductor Air just refuse to work without DoP selected.
Funny thing, I've bought a week ago a cheap Sabaj Da2 which also uses a XMOS and a 9018 Dac inside ( different versions ) but this one is able to play DSD files without DoP enabled. I don't say that it can really play DSD512. It doesn't have the output power of the Play, but it sounds really good.
If someone ask, the Da2 is identical ( but a lot cheaper ) with IDEA from SMSL - https://www.head-fi.org/threads/smsl-idea-portable-dac-amp.851110/
So it seems related to firmware or driver problems - same issue has Topping D10 - can play only in DoP mode.

Never had issues playing DSD in native mode with PLAY, so...it might be OS related.
BTW, native-mode and DoP is only related to the way transport works, so both way are decoded natively. Basically, sound is exactly identical in both ways: native and DoP.

The OS is Windows 10 Pro x64 - latest build. Tested on my tablet and 2 desktop PC's.
I know what DoP is. But still... The Da2 is almost 10 times cheaper...
