New Beyerdynamic Pro X line: DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X

I just tried to find replacement pads for the DT 700, i.e. spare parts from Beyerdynamic. Unfortunately I was unable to find them… would be interesting to try them on the DT770 I think, but I don’t want to remove them from my set.

While I always found the DT770 to be quite comfortable (the grey pads more so than the black ones interestingly), the new pads are so soft… amazing. But yes, the inner opening seems to be a bit smaller

New measurements of DT 700. Looking pretty good!

Now that's good.. like really good :) can't wait to test the DT700 up against the 770 250 ohm.. should be fun
It is definitely worth a listen. I thought it was an excellent headphone when I tried it.

But I do think people who are in love with the DT 770 and have used it for a long time, might need to listen to the DT 700 for several days exclusively, to give their brain a chance to adjust to it.

I think you are onto something... On a bright headphone it is normally easier to place symbols, and imaging is better. I just hope it's not as "vailed" in the treble area as my HD650...

@cel4145 that does look good indeed. The K371 was quite near the Harman Target as well, and I liked that one as well. Though I'd say the DT700 is a bit more lively in the mid and treble region -- which is welcome for my taste.

That... That looks quite nice! Are we sure, with such well behaved (at least on the graph) sound signature, this headphone is by the same folks who brought us the ice pick to the ears treble murder that is the 1990?

Yep. It looks like Beyer decided to find a middle ground between the DT 880 and DT 990, reduce the treble issue, and provide a little better low end bass extension.

Next we need some distortion measurements to see how well the bass would handle some boost. The DT 990 driver wasn't so good for that.

I've just read the review on diyaudio... Seams like the DT900 is really good... It's still not going to replace my DT990 600 ohm, as it's not ment to be a fun phone, but for studio work it should be great.

It would be interesting to see how well it would handle 5 or 6db of bass boost. Because then you could make it a more fun headphone, more similar to the bass boost on the DT 990.
