DT990 & 880 (Premium) 'replacement' has been on sale for a while now in the shape of T90. As has DT770 Premium replacement T70. The price of these has now come right down to almost what the old midels cost at least in UK/ Europe

DT1770 on the other hand is is a much more expensive alternative to DT770pro at least at the moment. A future DT1990 would be a similar supplementary model and not a replacement for DT990pro IMO

As for DT990 being way behind K712 & HD650 as far as I'm aware they along with 880 have always been considered to be at the same level as those phones ie top tier dynamics until recently. just different flavours. Which makes the Pro versions incredible bargains.

Agreed.

Even though the DT990pro is very reasonably priced, it is not easy to drive and it scales extremely well. Quality counts: the source material, the source, and the amplifier. I firmly believe that most owners have never heard what these cans are capable of.

DT990pro is definitely an underrated can and currently my favorite until I can save up for Beyerdynamic's T1 2nd generation. However, since they are refreshing their DT880,770,990 it seems with updated Tesla drivers, I may just hold off for a while longer and see how they compare with the current generation. Exciting times for Beyer fans for sure.
