This is my first post but I have been actively reading all the advice on this Forum for several months.

My current system comprises of the following:

Squeezebox Duet
Pro-ject Head Box Mk II Headphone Amplifier
Alessandro Music Series MS1 (purchased after reading this Forum)
Sennheiser HD 650 (purchased after reading this Forum)

I now wish to start upgrading and I am unsure whether to purchase a new amplifier or DAC.

The DAC I am interested in is the Cambridge Audio DacMagic (very good reviews here in the UK) and the amplifier is the Dark Voice Figaro (seems like a good entry into the world of tubes).

Which item would make the biggest listening improvement to my system.

All my music (1500+ CD’s) is ripped to FLAC using EAC and I listen to a wide range of music from CSNY to Led Zeppelin to Yo-Yo Ma.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

I would vote DAC. It may make more of a difference than you'd think. CI=CO.

I vote for the amp because the SB Duet isnt the worst source and the 650's really need an amp with more gusto. You really need both but if your headphones are not getting enough juice then what difference does it make if you buy a new source?
