My gf purchased a cheap mattress from costco for college, and it's pretty terrible. It actually feels physically unstable, and rocks from side to side when you move or sit down.

I'm happy with my firm and comfy full.

For what it's worth, I do think the Sleep Number beds are significantly more comforatble than even some pricer traditional matresses. Everyone that's ever slept on mine wound up buying one.

Get a cheap mattress and put 3 inch memory foam topper http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2....prod_id=884135

The only downside is, it feels hotter on summer since memory foam retains your body heat, my solutions put a cool duvet cover on top of the memory foam.
