New Abyss planar magnetic headphone

That's a $120 Schiit Vali pre-production driving the Abyss. It sounds good. But I wouldn't advise anyone being so irresponsible as to pair a $5K headphone with a $120 amp with microphonic tubes.

Sorry M-13, I forgot to answer your first question. The resolution on the Abyss is superior to that of the HE-6 the HD800. With my equipment,
the resolution would be:

AB1266 > HD800 > HE6.

The HD800 resolution is quite close to the AB1266 though. I should also mention that I have upgraded cables on the HD800 (silver dragons).

I am agree with you
Abyss 1266 > HD 800 > T 1 > LCD 3
If you find the Synergy with your Amp , Abyss 1266 Clarity is almost like my Stax Sr 007 mk 2

I almost threw up in my mouth a little at how irresponsible this pairing is.

Then again, I judge equipment by how it tastes, not how it sounds.

I think Marv was backpeddling, tongue in cheek with that comment, worried about a certain someone's insecurity that the Vali apparently instilled in him-sight unheard.

I fully plan on pairing my HD800 with the Vali and giving it a fair shake. The MJ made a believer of me-for it's price.

Just for perspective, JPS Labs flagship cables are up there in retail price:
http://www.jpslabs.com/PDF/JPS_Labs_price.pdf

Aluminata Reference Series: IC is $3499 per 1-meter pair;  Speaker Cable $7799 for a 6-foot pair; AC Power cord is $3999 for a 2-meter length.

So that's the perspective JPS is coming from, and from their point of view, $5,500 is, well, affordable I guess.

From this perspective I would hope they sell the phones for 2500$ without the cable:wink:

Sheseems
proud with your Abyss.:)

but, it is not a little low on the head?

My 8 year old son likes also to wear (and hear) an world class headphone (Stax SR-009).
Who has the best ear and Who has the best headphone?

That is the question!

Thank you Eric
These two headphones are excellent
That sound good that my mother is 80 years old and you son is 8 years old
8 in Chinese that's mean lucky years
Both have high end music taste :beerchug:
