I have most of my Mozart symphonies with Neville Marriner. I was in a record store today and saw a 3CD set of the Bach Brandenburgs, Orchestral Suites and 3 violin concertos.
I know some people prefer period instruments. I have many recordings done on period instruments and I enjoy them very much. Anyway, this Bach 3 CD set is $18.00 and was wondering if would be worth it to buy?
I was curious to what people thought about the Neville Marriner recordings in general. His name rarely comes up when people are recommending recordings. Is he another Murray Perahia type figure in that there is much popular hype, but there are other recordings much better?
