Never ordering from Markertek again!

No offense skyline, but while I'm sure you have a keen sense for how much it actually costs to ship a package (the amount you pay the shipper) what it "costs" markertek to ship something is entirely different. They have other world of costs that you and I don't have to deal with.

Honestly, I can understand why you're frustrated but I think the only thing that you have a legit beef with is the delay in shipping the back-ordered item which more than likely is not something that Markertek had any control over to begin with. They are quoted delivery dates just like you quoted someone when you thought you would have a project completed. You're vendor delayed you just like Markertek got delayed by whoever was supposed to deliver the part to their warehouse.

FWIW I've had nothing but good experiences with them. They do seem to like to pack the wrong parts in my orders but have always replaced them at their cost without question. I got about $200 worth of connectors from them last week, total time between ordering and delivery was 3 days, that's spectacular in my book. Also, I never order anything on back-order from anyone for the reasons highlighted in this thread, it's a total crapshoot when something will come back in stock. I just find an alternate vendor or find an alternate part.

In my experience, the exception to this is Mouser. They have always gotten the date right for me, and the pay shipping on the first item. I backorder from them all the time.

There's a difference between a delay in them getting the parts versus when they originally expected to, and simply making up dates because they don't actually know when they will get them. I find it difficult to believe that the actual expected date for the parts to be in stock always increases by just a few weeks whenever the old date passes.

However, I cut Markertek less slack than I would other vendors, because they like to claim they carry the entire Neutrik product line, but will only sell certain parts (that're not listed on the website) by special order in a minimum quantity of 100 pieces. I actually probably would've been willing to order in that quantity at the time, were it not for the condescending attitude they had about even selling the parts to me at all.

I failed to see why I should be held accountable for them not having parts in stock as most companies ship out back ordered parts or orders at their cost. Nevertheless, I checked the little box stating that I'd be willing to pay a small fee for shipping back ordered parts separately not knowing that they'd charge me an extra $5 to ship out a package that's going to come in weighing about 1oz. So that's $12 total to ship out an order that basically costs about $2 to ship and I get to wait three weeks for the parts to arrive. Not only did they back me up but they backed up the guy I have waiting for his product to be completed. Never again!

I'll pay the extra money to get my parts elsewhere.

P.S.-Sorry about the rant but this is just unacceptable to me.

I got the same rip-off deal when I ordered some Mini Star-Quad, F12's, and F10's.

Well it's been three weeks and I still haven't received my parts but I have to give Markertek some credit for good customer service, they refunded my entire shipping bill. I emailed them after receiving another $5 charge for $2 worth of parts and they responded quickly and pleasantly saying I'd be credited my shipping charges for the hassle and delay.
