Ok, so I am thinking about the Eyt ER-4s (S or P, not sure yet). What I am wondering is, if I do, what is that going to make my Grado Sr-125s sound like? This is what I am getting at, I want both sets of my phones to be "roughly" in the same class. Once I listened to 125s, my Shure E2s just don't really measure up. I don't want the same thing happening to my Grados in comparision to Etys. See what I mean?

I don't think you have anything to worry about. The Etys are going to sound a LOT different from your Grado's but I don't think you'll find the 125 outclassed to the point you won't enjoy them.

Eh, I think you'll come back to the 125s for the visceral bass, sound stage, and the pleasentness of open phones listening.

That, and the impact for rock that only Grados deliver. I like my er-4p and sr-125 equally, only for different reasons.

I cannot comment on the 125's, but I know that after living with Etys for a while, my old sr-80s sounded like they had oatmeal in them. OTOH, some more bass would be nice ...
