Hi... I have a Topping HP amp and I'd like to run an Optical S/PDIF source to it from my Audient iD22 interface for sound mixing (48kHz - 24 bit). I don't need any other connections, just Optical.

Do I need to get a full fledged DAC to do this or would something like this be ok?

What model is the Topping HP amplifier.
Amplifiers are normally analog, so why run an optical (digital) cable?
The Audient iD22 already provides a DAC function.

The headphone amp is a Topping L30 II. Right now I'm using outputs 3/4 on the Audient to feed the L30. The problem is I normally run a subwoofer from 3/4. The Audient can send the mix to it's Optical out, which will free up the sub. Before that however, I need to get an "Optical in" DAC to convert the signal from digital to analog.

Yes but I'd have to spend $150 on that unit. Looking for less expensive options... thanks though.
