It all depends on how much you would be willing to spend. The very best wireless device we have right now is xDSD GRyphon that's WAY above both the original xCAN and xDSD. Hope this helps!



The original xCAN was designed as a powerful amplifier in the first place that also has a wireless DAC inside. xDSD is a wireless DAC that has an in-built amp that's not as powerful as xDSD's amp. In short, xCAN's amp is better than xDSD's amp, but xDSD has a better DAC that xCAN. Thanks!

I'm using a Creative SxFi USB Dongle - one of the remaining AKM based DACs that don't require additional USB power to connect to iPhones.

How are those grado's sr80? The only grado product I have is the Gt220! But I really like the grado company! And being I'm in the us I like to represent, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Xdsd gryphon, thx again for the input

Haha no worries. Quick rundown from me is it’s very much the Grado house sound. Great clear highs and mid-bass but lacking sub-bass without extra pressure on the ears which ends up hurting. I had stock pads fwiw. The sound was fatiguing for longer listening sessions.

I've personally sworn off Fiio because of their cavalier attitude towards the Q3 interference issues - a product marketed to stack with your phone but without proper shielding causing artifacts and static. They ignore the problem when asked about it here on Head-Fi.

I also throw in a vote for the xDSD Gryphon. It's an amazing device with SOOO many features. You can't go wrong.
The only drawback I have with it, is that it always connects to APTX when you turn it on. It does not remember the last codec you used. And even if your phone supports LDAC, the Gryphon won't recognize it. I always have to go into my android phone "developer settings" and force LDAC.

It would be such a blessing to be able to get LDAC automatically after turning on the device. I know many might argue that the audible difference between APTX and LDAC is negligible, some of us are just OCD and like to have our settings set and done lol. Any way you guys can improve on that, even a basic app just for the codec, would be awesome. But even better if it can be in the device settings to turn off certain codecs.

I have multiple devices including BTR3, BTR5, ifi Xcan, L&P W2, ddhifi TC35B, Dunu DTC 100 and ddhifi TC44C.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 with lossless flac files played via UAPP.

If doing yard work, snow blowing, etc. my preferred device is the BTR5 with the BTR3 as a backup if the battery runs down. The flip phone phone goes in 1 pocket, the BTR5 in another and all is well.

For portable listening, mostly outside while sitting / lounging, I now prefer the Flip 3 > ddhifi TC44C > ifi Xcan with a 4.4 mm out from the TC44C and 2.5 mm into the ifi Xcan. When the phone is flipped closed it makes a nice little stack. looking for the right strap to put around the stack.

I also have a Cowan Plenue II Mark II but prefer the phone in the above scenarios. I do use that as one input into a Schiit Modi 3+ the days i go into the office
