What's up everyone?!? So I'm looking for some recommendations on a portable/BT DAC, I started w/ BTR5 a little over a year ago, after that I went to ifi GB, which I absolutely love the soundstage of Go Blu, I am more of a bass head, but I recently grabbed the HiBy r3 pro, and I'm not really feeling it, so I returned it, 99% of the time I stream my music, I'm currently pushing CA Mammoths, ikko ohs1, bgvp ns9, and starfields. My only complaint w/ ifi GB, is the volume control especially when using my CA mammoths. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! I've been eyeing the Qudelix 5k?? Any thoughts?? Thx again in advance🤘✌️

Yea I've crossed that one a couple times, I do like the looks of the volume control compared to GO BLU, is there any comparison from xcan to GB?

On sound quality xCAN is above GO blu, but GO Blu is smaller and allows you to make calls. So the choice between them should be based on sound as much as utilities they offer. Hope this helps, thanks!

Thanks so much, yes it helps It was not until I grabbed the I five go blue that I could really hear such a different soundstage in my IEM

is there anything else u would recommend over the xcan? Music: all music across the board from hip hop to classical to heavy metal, BT preferably bc I run iem under my shirt and plug in. Always on the go. Also I'm a bass head pushing ca mammoths and ohs1's, thx

It all depends on how much you would be willing to spend. The very best wireless device we have right now is xDSD GRyphon that's WAY above both the original xCAN and xDSD. Hope this helps!

How bout the xdsd?? I know the price jumps on up but and input on it?

The original xCAN was designed as a powerful amplifier in the first place that also has a wireless DAC inside. xDSD is a wireless DAC that has an in-built amp that's not as powerful as xDSD's amp. In short, xCAN's amp is better than xDSD's amp, but xDSD has a better DAC that xCAN. Thanks!

I use the ifi xCan with my HD6XX, Starfields, and ER3XR - they sound great with plenty of power and the added 3d and bass effects are well-implemented (I don't use them though). I wish it had a built in DAC but I ended up getting a dongle DAC to use in conjunction with it.

It's on sale at Adorama for $150 using this link:

I also have and use the Qudelix 5K - sounds great and would be sufficient if you don't need the power xCan provides.

Well, xCAN is a DAC/amp device, so from your post I gather that you got it to use as a portable headphone amp?

Since it has no USB DAC like it's brother (xDSD) and successor (Gryphon), I primarily use it as a portable amp with an inline USB DAC to tether to my phone for lossless audio. xDSD doesn't have the power rating I wanted for HD6XX and Gryphon is too expensive for my use case and frequency of use. xCAN fits my budget and doubles as a bluetooth DAC in a pinch. I've also used it as just a portable amp for my Qudelix 5K over bluetooth.

I hear you now and yes, our original xCAN doesn't feature a USB input and is a wireless DAC. Still, it's good to know that you could accommodate it in your setup and it serves you well. Thanks for sharing!
