This isn't directly Headphone related, but you guys seem to be the most knowledgable about the newer Sound Cards and options (AVS still act like Revo's are the end-all in audio).
Anyways, my question relates to using a Stereo Gainclone with a PC. I'd like to use the old Foobar option.
At the moment I don't have an external DAC, I plan to build one down the road. And I don't have a pre-amp per say, the Gainclone will use an attenuator.
However, in the future I will probably be adding on speakers, using Stereo for music and then switching to something like 5.1-7.1 for movies when friends are over.
This will certainly seem like a stupid question, I've been looking at the 1212m, can it even output 5.1-7.1 without a pre amp?
I proably won't be recording any music, but if it's there then it's something that may intrigue me.
Would the best option be to just use something like a 1212 for music, and use an Audigy 2 for games and movies since I am a die hard gamer?
Thanks for any replies in advance.
