Hi all,
Currently I'm searching around for some new cans, at the moment I've got a pair of HD280's which I'm currently trying to return for a refund or replacement due to the headband cracking issue. Gives me an excuse to buy some different cans anyhow.
Mostly I listen to various types of metal, anything from gothic to power/speed metal to industrial German metal although not really death metal much. I'm not too worried about tons of bass, as the HD280's were never overly strong in that respect.
Now, my budget is up to about £100-130 (Works out at roughly US$220), possibly more if it'll be really worth it. Closed cans are an absolute must due to where I'll be listening to them and not wanting to bother nearby people/hear background noise.
I'll also be using them for gaming so a decent soundstage would be useful, and reasonable levels comfort is another must due to wearing them for long periods of time. I'll mostly be driving them from my PC (Old SB Live! Value sound card) and I don't currently have a headphone amp. I would consider buying one if it was really required and it's possible to get one within the budget constraints.
I've heard the DT770's should be fairly close to what I'm looking for, but just wanted to see if there were any other suggestions or comments before I go spend money.
Thanks.
