I have a budget of ~120, but i can go over, and options i am considering are:
1. SR60 and PMX100, using sr60 at home, pmx as portables
2. HD555 for use at home, deal with my Triport IEs elsewhere
3. Ak81 DJ for general use, maybe some pmx100s (leaning away from this option)
4. Assume my Triport IEs have better sound than anything and be content, maybe even sell them for some ipod earbuds(ignorance is bliss?)

I will be listening to mostly rock, from both an ipod (5g) and itunes on a PC with whatever soundcard came with it ("Creative SB Live! Series" appears in playback control window), mostly v0 mp3 and apple lossless. No amps.

I'd say Grado SR60, or stretch to the SR80, but only because I've never tried the MS1.
And get some KSC-75s too

its really hard to go wrong with the sr60. terrific unamped, even better amped, sounds as good as headphones costing twice as much, and comfortable to boot. the only problem is that you look a bit like a prat wearing them out...and theyre an open design so sound goes everywhere and bothers the whole world.

Sorry to bump this, but would the ATH-ES7 be worth shelling out the extra cash for?
I like that they're closed, and they only have 32 ohm impedance, but they cost $140, which is a real stretch.

What about k81's and sr60's? You can get both for under 120. And closed cause k81's are closed, they make good portables (if you don't mind the size). I personally use them as portables. Occasionally I use the ksc75's for portable if I don't need isolation. ANd of course, sr60's for home.

It really just depends what you need - isolation, size, etc. I think all of them would be great choices.
