A friend of mine is stepping up the home-theater with a new sound setup, and needs some speaker advice. He came to me, and I don't know headphones like I do speakers. So... I come to you.

He just picked up an Onkyo tx-sr705. Now we need 5 speakers to go with it. Budget is $1,000... can stretch up to $1,200 for the right gear. Past that, really, I was given no other criteria. Just need LR Front, LR Back, and Center speakers. Anyone have suggestions?

Oh, and to clarify, this is pretty much a movie and video game setup. I don't think it will see much music.

Well I'm not much into HT, but if it were me I'd take a look at the Mirage OMNI line. Not really because they're from Canada...but I know the guy who designs their speakers, he's a good guy and pretty damn smart. The OMNI pseudo-dipole approach is pretty interesting; I used to have a pair of Lowther corner horns that had a vaguely similar design, and I loved them.
