Looking for smart rhymes, interesting beats (possibly techy or dark?) but really anything of high quality.

Some of my faves as reference:

Can Ox
Jedi Mind Tricks
Anything Wu related
Company Flow
MF Doom
Mobb Deep

Dalek (L)

Also, if you like JMT, check out canibus's rip the jacker, same producer, better mc.
Second recommendation, Deep puddle dynamics, dose one might require some getting used to, but the other three mc's and the beats are pure abstract goodyness.

I just bought D'Angelo's Brown Sugar album and I really dig it.  I like Voodoo by him better, though...it's a lot more spread out and "earthy".

Also of note:

Blakroc - Self-titled  (Two blues/rock white boys from Akron, OH playing around with some very good hip hop artists...fantastic stuff.)

Brother Ali - The Undisputed Truth  (Not the most complete hip hop album but definitely a strong one.)

Mos Def and Talib Kweli - Black Star  (A classic.  Both are at the top of their game.)

I'm just gonna go through my "music i want" word document and copy all the rap artists I see...

Felt

Immortal Technique

The Grouch

OFWGKTA
Biz Markie
Wax
Deans List
Hoodie Allen
The Roots
Big Boi
Living Legends
Brother Ali
Sunspot Jonz
Afro Classics
Evidence
Atmosphere
Mos Def

That's about it... sorry if you don't feel like going through every one, I'm not exactly sure what sound you're going for. Maybe the newest Cunninlynguists CD, Oneirology, would be what you're looking for?
