I have never bought a pair of headphones (I've always just used the apple earbuds) and I need some help picking out a pair. Hopefully the following criteria will explain what i'm looking for:

-$150-$225
-Over the ear
-Good isolation
-I listen to mostly rock and hip hop
-Comfort and style are very important

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heya,

Look into:

Brainwavz HM5
Beyer DT770 PRO
AKG K550
Denon D2000
Ultrasone PRO 750 or HFI 780
Shure SRH750 DJ
M-Audio Q40

I highly recommend the DT770, Q40 and HFI780 for your needs.

Very best,

^ I agree, the Brainwavz HM5's are amazing for value, just a little strong when it comes to clamping force, but you will get over it. If you don't. I'd getting a little dirty, try to mod the T50rp's, and I could help you get the sound you desire.

Well I would recommend a pair of overlooked headphones . . . the Incase Sonic's (if you don't mind the look which I know a lot of people undoubtedly do) just the isolation isn't very good at all. It has excellent comfort and fit (at least for me) and I think that they have good sound quality (though I am new to this and haven't heard many can's). They are touted as having natural sound. I don't know if you know how to read frequency response graphs but if you do then you should try to find one for these though cause as I said, I haven't heard many can's so I don't really know if these are truly 'natural' sounding or if that is just marketing bs. Can anyone tell me if these truly sound good for their price and if they are truly 'natural' . . . also if someone could upload a FR graph both for me and bdr1 (if he is interested) that would be nice. Here are some pics of said Incase Sonic's btw bdr1 (in case you haven't seen them before):

I have the grey ones with the blue on the inside of the ear cups.
