Have you ever tried them on a plane ? I have the HJE50 which uses basically the same type of tip. They are just no good for planes.
Even with the tri-flanges on the er6i, you can still hear some background noise (and yes I push them all the way in, or else it would really be horrible).

FWIW, I recently bought a Nano and a pair of Shure E2G's for a trip I just got back from. The Shure's did an amazing job of cutting out the noise from the 3 hour turboprop ride, and the crying babies on other planes. Plus for my ears they sound just fine...anymore bass and I figure an amp is needed regardless.

Not super helpfull, but I bought them from macmall for ~$65 shipped. Otherwise I would have tried the UM1's I here so much about.
