Hey Guys,

I'm letting my ipod photo 60gb go because i need to have these 2 important things.

1. High quality recording capability - line in (mic) input. I plan to attach a sony battery powered mic in it. I need to send audition/demo tapes so recording quality has to be high

2. I also wanna have a line out so that i can hook it up to my amp.

3. If there's a usb digital out for a DAC, that's a plus.

The thing i like most about the ipod is easy scrolling. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Nab

You will definitely not get a high quality recording going mic in, not sure about the sony mic you're using, got a model# for us? Sony mics are not exactly known for their sound reproduction qualities.

The nomad jukebox 3 is a great recorder, you can find them used on ebay and especially on www.taperssection.com in the yard sale where many tapers are selling off their units because they are upgrading to 24 bit recorders. Line in is definitely the way to go and prepare to splurge on a battery module/preamp depending on what mic you settle on if its not the sony. Plus, mic in on the njb3 is quite noisy (you can hear the HD spinning).

Nomad Jukebox 3 has 2 line outs...and their true line outs.

The user inteface on the njb3 is quite easy to navigate. I don't have mine with me, but its easy as selecting (based on memory): music library/recordings/monitor recording. You select your bit depth and sampling rate (16/44) and select line in/mic in/optical in and your rdy to rock and roll. It has meters for L/R channel but their a little slow, but functional. Transferring files is very easy and the battery life with both batteries is rock solid. There's a njb3 faq/guide over at www.taperssection.com. I'm sure it will answer many of your questions on this solid recorder and by the way, its one of the best sounding dap's you will ever own.

I hope that helps you out. I would recommend the iriver H1x0 series dap's, but they can be expensive, not recorder friendly and they drop samples based on the stock firmware.

I hope that helps you out!

The iriver features a line in/out but you can control the volume...which to me doesn't sound like a true line out. But what the heck do i know.

Believe me, if he wants the best sound quality, he needs to avoid mic in.
