I've been shopping for a DAC for what seems like ages. Right now I've narrowed it down to the Aune X1 and the Topping D2. However, information on the Topping is, to say the least, difficult to come by. Anyway, what I would like to know about the D2, specifically is:
1) Is the Topping's RCA line out fixed or variable?
2) The ebay advertisements claim 24/96 resolution over coaxial and optical but I can't find any information on it's USB performance. Is it also 24/96 or is it something less?
3) The op-amps do not appear to be in sockets in the photographs. Am I missing something?
Anyway, if anyone who owns it could recommend it that would be great. I'm also interested in owner's oppinions of the volume potentiometer, specifically if they ever experience one channel louder than the other at low volumes with efficient cans or, if applicable, though the line out.
If anyone could compare the Topping and the Aune, too, that would be awesome. I'm thinknig if the Topping is a good buy I'll probably choose it, though.
