Hey..
For the first time in 2 years I'm disappointed with my portable setup.
It's an iPod Classic w/ ep-630. I heard some Led Zeppelin this morning. It was Led Zeppelin II ripped in lossless from my original CD.
It's like there is no soundstage whatsoever and all the sounds come from the same place. I don't know how to explain it.

I'm guessing it's because of my IEMs. I don't want to have to carry a portable amp so remember that the iPod headphone out should be enough.

I want only IEMs. No portable headphones like the PX100.

My budget is about 100$.
Thanks!
Oh, I want it to be good with all music genres with a big emphasis on rock.

i'd say give the apple dual drivers a shot.. they can be found on ebay for only $35 from a seller many of us have bought from/can vouch for

the ne-7m for $50+shipping also has great soundstage/good for rock

Can you give me a link to the apple dual drivers?

I know you stipulated IEM, but for under $100, you might want to consider Yuin PK3 or Pk2, unless your other requirement is isolation. Both have great soundstage. If these aren't an option, then I agree with blawhh and go with the PFE.

Super.Fi 3, rebranded as the Altec-Lansing UHP336, can be had on Amazon for $35 (the cable is different, but otherwise, the same phone). Very good phone for the price. I have a pair, and the OP could do a lot worse, even at a higher price.

Just as an FYI. PFEs are not $100 or under, and the er6 is no longer sold by Ety (and impossible for find for under $100). So the OP would have to buy the PFEs or ER6s used to get that price.

For rock with soundstage, take a look at the Audio Technica ATH ckm70. Worth the money! Wide soundstage for an IEM, quite bright (Grado bright) too, but nice for rock. I like them with Led Zep and Pink Floyd. Highly under-rated on head-fi.org. Maybe just not been discovered on this website.

I just got my maximo im590s and the first impression was very good; they're comfy have tight bass and good detail though the mids and highs are not as detailed or clear as my denon d1001s... but i wasn't expecting them to be. The im590s are sold by maxwho.com who got the phones to me in 2 days! They're $60 and def something to keep in mind.

I checked all your suggestions. First of all, I don't want any non-IEMs like the Yuin Pk2/3 because it really hurts my ears plus I really like IEM style.
I decided that 100$ is too much for my listening to my portable setup. The relevant options are:
Nuforce NE-7m - 60$ shipped
Altec Lansing UHP336 - 63$ shipped
Maximo im590 - 60$ w/o shipping, I asked maxwho how much is shipping but I haven't received a reply yet.
Any tips ?

FYI this is how much other IEMs cost shipped:
ER6i - 102$
Phonak PFE - 220$
Shure SE110 - 90$
CKM70 - 150$
Shure SE102 - local dealer sells them at 105$~

The PFE is $139 and is harder to drive, but is very rewarding, so much so that it is frequently compared to the big boys. I am currently building an IEM using drivers from Knowles Acoustics. My project is in the DIY thread. At this point, I have installed a CI-22955 by itself and have been blown away by what $52 worth of drivers can do.

Er6 is not the same as Er6i. The 6i's have an 8-db bass boost and a different-size nozzle. They are also reported to be less detailed and accurate than the Er6 (but still incredible for the price).

From those I would definitely choose the Er6i. Might want to drop another $10 on a set of Shure Olive tips, too, as they really help with bass without an amp.
