I recently purchased a Bottlehead Crack, however I don’t plan to use my speakers and all of my headphones with it. So, I’m thinking I’ll probably need to build a DIY Switch Box to consolidate all the inputs and outputs to avoid cable swapping. I have no experience with designing or building electronics, so I’ll need your help with that.

I drew a diagram of what I’m hoping to get out of the build. I hope it makes sense. I basically have two inputs, Audio-gd NFB 15.32 DAC and Bottlehead Crack. I want to be able to toggle between the NFB 15.32 and Crack, like an A/B switch. I also want to be able toggle output to my speakers (only turned on, when in use) and 4 headphones.

Sounds simple, right? I honestly wouldn't know. So this where I need your help:

  1. Do I just buy single solid/stranded copper cables for the internal wiring? If so, what kind?
  2. Is there something I need to solder the 3 way splitter or can I just solder 3 ends of the wires together?
  3. What would I need to wire the 2 input / 1 output toggle switch (Probably will mount it to the front of the case)?
  4. Any suggestions of parts for the RCA, headphone jacks, and rotary switch?

So you want 2 options:

1 to switch between your speaker amp and the headphone amp
1 to switch between all your different headphones

correct?

I question whether it is worth it to spend money on a DP4T switch for the headphones, since it will be expensive. I would personally just plug and unplug the headphones honestly, that's what I do now

As for the switching between the headphone amp and speaker amp, you need a 3PDT switch (3 pole, double throw) since you need to switch GND, L, R (3 poles) between 2 different positions (2 throw)

ELMA sells a bunch of stuff like this, not sure how much it costs as I have never made one. You could probably get away with only switching the L,R, leaving ground connected, if you prefer.

Thanks, but neither of those fit what I need. I also never heard of eblay ;)

If you gonna DIY modding, you just add the headphone connectors to those switches/housing.
The 3 input and 1 output are reversible as 3 output and 1 input, because its just mechanical wiring together.
