I've been thinking about stepping away from onboard audio and going dedicated. I looked at the ASUS Essence STX, but I'm wondering if this might be overkill for what I have (and will use it for mostly): Audio-Technica Pro700MKII.
I know at least that I'm not going to need those 600 ohms, but I'm wondering if the SnR and such is gonna make a huge difference compared to a cheaper card to someone who has not had experience with good quality audiocards?
If it matters, I listen mostly to EDM with 320kbps MP3 or 1411kbps WAV
