Quick question : I'm a newbie at Ubuntu. I just removed the bottom panel and installed Cairo Dock. But for some reason, when I maximize the window of any application, the applications still react like there is a bottom panel (i.e. not maximized to the point where it covers what used to be the bottom panel) - thus I see a strip of the wallpaper beneath.

What am I missing? Thanks in advance for the help.

No idea. Did you try the ubuntuforums.org?

Actually, just solved it an hour or so ago. It was a setting inside Cairo Dock.
