One set of good full sized headphones just isnt cutting it for me anymore, I have been loving my Grado SR-225s, but i would like something to compliment/contrast them well, I have been looking at the Sennheiser HD-650s (especially for ease of replacing cables, I have had cable problems in the past and love easly replaceable cables), or the AKG K-701s, and possibly the Beyer DT-770/80s Darth Beyered. I am looking at using them portably so i was kind of edging towards the Darth Beyers because they are closed. I need the headphones to work well with a PINT amp, at the moment I listen to mid-90s underground rap, so some of the stuff isn't that well recorded (sounds awkward with too analytical of headphones)

I think the 650s should contrast the 225s nicely. They are darker and more laid back than the Grados. I own the 600s and almost pulled the trigger on new 650s since they were so cheap ($253 new).

BTW where did you see new HD-650s for $253???
