This is my first venture into the home theater thing. At this point, I'd like to keep things relatively on the inexpensive side ($700 max.) since I haven't listened to a lot of movies in the past and for the most part, use the system I have strictly for music. That could change if I discover I like the HT experience. I have read some posts about the Athena Micra 6 and Tyke HT packages which would seem to be a good introductory system. However, would these work well in a large room? My townhome is set up so the kitchen/dining/living rooms are one big, open area. I also have a 9 foot ceiling. The audio portion of my system consists of an Onkyo DS575X and KEF Q20 (or Q40, can't remember which) floor standing speakers. Music CD's would go to the KEF's.

Another option would be to buy individual rears, center and a sub to go along with the KEF's.

Any comments on what to consider for my listening area and budget and also where to purchase is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would get the Tower versions of those Kef speakers. I think they are Q3 or Q4s? I had the Onix Tyke HT system hooked up to a Marantz SR6400 100w x 6 and I didnt like the sound. The little 8inch subwoofer kicks ass though. My living room is 12x18x8.
