I'd say HD-580s and a TAH would be perfect. $200 + $150 = $350.
A step down, DT250-80s plus TAH or AH amp $320 or $270.
A step down further, DT250-80s $160.
If you ever even remotely conceive yourself spending $4,000 in the near future or more on a balanced CD player. . . then get the HD600s instead of the 580s. They'll sound better the more you pump into them. Nothing imho compares to the natural sound of the HD600s. I'm dead serious. Nothing (well, except mabye some of the higher-end electrostatics or K1000 but I have not heard those).
