I thought I had everything backed up, but a small number of songs were not. They're on my ipods but I can't simply drag and drop. I can see the songs in the folders when I search without itunes but they're not organized and don't have the proper names, and for some reason there's like 50 folders and it's all random letters and numbers.

Haven't done this in like forever but I'd use the tools in the I tunes app to try and sort that.

When you write "iPods" do you mean more than one iPod that you're dealing with?

If for whatever reason you can't use iTunes to access the iPod(s), you could try a terrific piece of software called "iMazing" that should be able to get the files off the iPod(s). However, success might come down to just how old/what generation the iPod(s) is/are.

The Apple iTunes can read and export, but there's file managers that can do it also. Been so long since I did it, but used a 3rd party manager to access on the iPod.

Back in the day I used MusicMonkey to manage my iPOD.
