Protege, thank you for the detailed reply. I'm taking your advice and looking into the DAC... now it just comes down to picking one. Modi 3, or Modi 2, or one of the massdrop DACs, or something else...
and Audio, I never would have considered the Chromecast, but it's a good idea to look into. The desktop is right next to the sound system so it seems a bit weird to be routing the music through our internet router across the house and back, but it's worth looking into. Thank you!
