After a browsing through some of the Stax threads, I'm concluding (maybe in error) that if I'm are going to purchase the SR-007Mk2's, I need an amp like the BHSE or WES to drive them properly.

Is it worth purchasing the SR-007MK2 and matching them with a GES or SRM-007tii?  Or would I be better off purchasing SR-507's and matching them with a GES or SRM-007tii?  Or would I be better off purchasing the SR-007Mk2 and matching them with a WEE + Leben CS300xs combination?

Good luck getting a BHSE!  Very limited supply and long waits to get one, but probably the best there currently is.

The prevailing sentiment appears to be that the  Stax tube amps are underpowered.  However there is general satisfaction with the old transistor  717, although these are a bit hard to find.  I still can't tell from what I read here,  if the new Stax transistor amps such as the 727's have got back to the 717 standard.

You might want to start with the 507 and something like the 717/727 to see how you like Staxen.  Then you could move up to 007/BHSE..  I suspect the 507  will hold its value for some time.  The 717 driives the 007 pretty well and if you do sell, it probably won't be at a loss.

Edstrelow, thanks for your reply.  That's ok, I'm not ready yet for a BHSE / WES investment.  Right now I'm leaning towards a Woo Audio GESmaxed / 507 setup.
