Hey all,
My poor old PCDP died on me.
It was a little Philips number that I have had around for 4 years or so. Ah well, I only paid $60 for it.
So I'm looking for a new PCDP. I don't use my portable rig all that much so I don't want to spend a ton. Say $60-100 would be a reasonable range. I might raise that if there is absolutely nothing that fits my needs in that range.
My first priority is good sound out of the headphone jack. My second priority is MP3 capacity. (Why not get it while I'm upgrading) Also, I would love it if it had a good line out for use with my (soon to be built) CMoy. Note that the first priority trumps everything else. If I can find a cheap PCDP that sounds good without the other stuff, I'd be happy.
So does anyone have any ideas? I've had some bad experiences with used gear so I'd rather go new but if there is a great deal on something used I might consider it.
Also, one of my friends told me I should think about getting a cheap MD player instead because they tend to have better headphone jacks. Is this true? If so, should I consider going that route instead?
Thanks in advance.
PS: If there has already been a question about PCDPs with the same criterion that has already been answered in the archives, feel free to point it out to me and I'll hang my head in shame for wasting your time.
