So I currently use astro a40s with the 2013 mix amp. My headphones have died but my amp carries on!

I'm looking for a pair of headphones for gaming both fps (cod, battlefield apex EST) and also games like WOW, the Witcher, Skyrim EST.

Now I'd rather NOT have to buy an amp to power headphones like the 990s but I'm open to suggestions.

I'd like to continue using my 2013 astro mix amp as it allows me to talk and get game sound on both PC (usb) and console (optical)


Im currently looking at the x2hrs which I can get for £112 (got £30 gift off Amazon due to their mistake). I'll also pair these with the v Moda mic

Will the x2hr both be an improvement in games like the witch AND cod (pin pointing footsteps) compared to my old Astros?


I am open to suggestions. The MAX I'm willing to spend is around 200.

In my opinion, the X2HR will be a meaningful upgrade--and that is a terrific price. The others that come to my mind in for your particulars are the HD598/599 and the SoundMAGIC HP200. Maybe give those a quick read if you haven't already and see what you think.

Yeah Amazon are great. The actual cost is £145(theyre on sale atm) got £33 off Amazon for a mistake .

I think I've read about the hd598 these are better for pure fps gaming right?

I can get the 598 for £152 and 599 for £164. Minus £33 gift money off Amazon


Oh and I'd like the 3.5mm cable to be changeable so I can use the v Moda.
