Pretty much split between the EX71SL and the Shure E2s. What is this "Plug" that I heard about the EX's?

I'm just going to be wearing these when I'm riding in a car, sitting in school, etc., so no critical listening will be involved. Source will be a G2 iPod unamped.

Definitely the e2s. Granted, I only heard the EX71SLs for about 1/2 hour, but I really didn't care for the sound, but some people like them and maybe my ears needed to adjust. The e2s are just a fun phone, good for working out and traveling.

I'll give a plug for the EX71SL's, especially for the money. I don't own the Shure E2's but have read good things about these as well. I went with the Sony's because the price was better and many folks owning both considered it a wash. Fit is pretty easy.

Since then, I just upgraded to the Shure E3's. Not burned in yet but bass is less as mentioned by many. I happen to prefer less bass as it can sound muffled - in my ears anyway. - John

Im not sure if you are looking for something nicer than this but the MX400/500 sound excellent for the price. I paid $12 for the MX400 and I probably use them more than any other 'phones that I own, just because they are always with me, wrapped around my MD recorder. Super portable, durable and at that price almost disposable!

I had good synergy with the Shure e2s and my 2nd gen iPod. Go for it, you won't regret it.

Have not heard the E2, but it has got to be better than the EX71. I have had those little Sonys for a few months and can not stomach the bloated bass and shriek-iness for more than a few minutes at a time. The Shure sound (I love my E5s) is bound to be mmore pleasing than the Sony.

HI: What about the Sharp 4 pole earbuds at 39.00. Do a search on them. They have very good reviews.

Third on Senn earbuds. One thing is when using headphones on a go, accident is prone to happen. I'd not be so upset, if i break my $15 MX-500, compare to $99 E2.

That is what he say right? No critical listen involved.

Shure has a great warranty policy for 2 years, fyi. I broke my Shure e2 cord and sent it back. They sent me a new/refurbished one without any questions.
