As someone said before, don't take their innocence, naivete etc. away - cynicism and nihilisim are no fun at all (and my school teachers hated me for this - I was the kid who said they were all stupid for believing in Santa Claus when I was 5 and I wouldn't be conned and given the chance I'd pull that beard off, etc.).
