My Panasonic HTF600s have fallen to pieces and my MDR 7506s are soon to follow (duck-taped together), so I'm in the market for another pair of full size, closed headphones. I don't want something super analytical like my MDRs, but I want something durable (unlike the Panasonics *although they are well built for $30) since my headphones are subject to dogs and constantly falling off of tables.

My budget is $100 since It's very unlikely that I can make anything last more than a year. I'd like a detachable cable that can be easily replaced (lots of chewed cables).

AKG K512 MKII.  A little bright but can be EQd.  Very fun.  Unlike any under $100 headphone I've listened to.  I use them for work primarily but they surprise me when I'm a bit more analytical.

If you break these, you deserve a medal. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-PRO700MK2-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B004KCLIFA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350818875&sr=8-1&keywords=audio+technica+700mk2

Look at SHO7205 which is a cost effective headphone of philips。 It were introduced as the most solid headphone.

Aren't those on ear (not full size)?

I prefer not to EQ, but I'll check them out.

Look good but way over budget.

None of those have a removable cable (except the phillips but it has that weird one that is hard to find in good quality), which is something I really do need. How about the Shure 440s? Has anyone heard anything good/bad about the sound/durability?

Well, you said you will probably break them so 100$ is your max, and you wouldnt be able to break the 700Mk2 so I figured you could spend more :) Also has removable cable.

Try the Koss Pro DJ 100. It's under $80 and built like a tank. Made out of metal and has a lifetime warranty.
You could throw them across the room multiple times and they'd probably live. If not, send them back to Koss!

No removable cable and I hate those pads (can't find any velour ones for them).

The pads issue is not a big deal though.

The hinges wouldn't survive. The metal also scratches easily. I find this to be a design flaw. I shouldn't need to keep my headphones in a case to prevent them from being damaged.

Sorry I've been absent from this thread. I am still looking for headphones though. My Sony's hinge is now in complete pieces and they are pretty much made of electrical tape now. Are those tony bennet's circumaural or on-ear? Any good pads for them (fell in love with velour on my sony's)?
